It's all a question of keeping things perspective. Yes - the Internet, Social Media and its new distributions methods mean everything is moving faster - and the amount of information available is growing at a frightening rate. A recent report said that more words are posted on the Internet in one day than the total printed pages produced up until the year 1800.

  • 'brochureware' is still 'brochureware' - only today it's your website and social media sites, where as once ir was expensive glossy colour brochure that sat on the Reception Desk at the office and was only given to important prospects 
  • a Blog is still 'the Company Newsletter' - but you save on postage and reach a lot more prospects
  • the old 'How to' instruction flier' is now an 'Informational' - you paste it on Pinterest (obviously in colour - it's cheap because you're not printing it) directing prospects to your web address 
  • Facebook is today's version of the old 'Circular Family Letter'. Remember how  everyone used to send one out with the Xmas cards? Now you can update the news when it happens and include real photos - it's much better than the old 'photocopied black splodges'. 

The key to successful marketing is still "make sure your target market can understand what you're offering -  why they need it now, and how to get it!"

Seems a dry topic - but actually it's really interesting when written in words that people are familiar with! The feedback is that prospects are calling MFS and saying "Finally - a website where I can understand how investments work and what Superannuation is all about. Can we please come and discuss ....". It's working!
